Breaking News: Hameed Ali Shuns Senate Again, Seek Legal Advice on Actions
The contropoler general of the Nigeria Customs, Hameed Ali refused to appear before the senate on Wednesday, March 15.
Senate president Bukola Saraki read Ali’s letter saying he was bereaved and could not show up before the Senate.
He Wrote:
“May I respectfully refer to your letter dated 9 March and inform Your Excellency that the decision on payment of customs duties by vehicle owners who do not have them as prescribed by law is currently being reviewed.
“The goal of the review is to take a broad additional input from the stakeholders and the public. I will welcome the opportunity to avail the senate of our findings.
Senators however kicked against Ali’s action and called on the Senate leadership to compel Ali to appear before the upper house of legislature on Thursday, March 16.
Recall that Hameed Ali who was summoned to appear before the senate on Wednesday, March 9, in his uniform, said that he was appointed to do a job, adding that he wondered if the uniform would do the job or the individual appointed.
