The Nokia 3310 is officially back, see what’s new

Mobile phone company, Nokia’s has returned it old model phone Nokia 3310 to the market with new design and features.

The classic mobile phone Nokia 3310 resurrected at MWC 2017, with a couple of innovative upgrades and tweaks.

Clearly an offspring off the year-2000 version, the new 3310  has been treated to a decent makeover that will impress hardcore 3310 fans.

Most people consider the original version of the 3310 iconic because of its popularity and rugged nature.

Over 126 million pieces were produced before it got phased out in 2005.

The fresh-looking, slick new model has an enlarged 2.4″ 320×240 pixel colour screen and significantly slimmer frame.

The Nokia 3310 resurrected is 12.8mm thick and weighs 79.6g, as opposed to 22mm and 133g of the old model.

The main keys have been altered by the phone maker, with some familiar keys ditched, giving room for a much wider screen.

Chief product officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvika, speaking about the development said:

“Nokia phones stir real emotions. 

“For the Nokia 3310 we just couldn’t resist.

“We wanted to reward loyal Nokia phone fans and make a statement that rich heritage, innovation and modern design can go hand-in-hand.”

The handset is being marketed as a feature phone, with HMD Global, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand.

According to HMD, the all-new 3310 is designed to be used as a festival, weekend or ‘fun’ mobile.

Nokia’s most iconic phone model now comes in different pleasant colour shades – glossy red, yellow, grey and dark blue matte schemes.

The phone comes in both a single SIM and a double SIM options that accepts two micro-SIM cards.

It also features a basic 2-megapixel back camera capable of capturing grainy shots and an LED flash that can be used as a torch.

Nokia has spiked up its battery life with the new 3310 offering 22 hours of talk-time and 30 days standby time between charges.

It runs Nokia Series 30+ and users will be able to surf the web via the Opera Mini browser and an extremely limited 2.5G connection.

It also still has it’s feature game, Snake for game lovers who wish to while away the time by playing instead.

When the handset hits the market in Q2, according to HMD Global, it will retail at an average global retail price of £41 (N24,000).
