A brave Nigerian soldier Sergeant Aliyu Bello, who was killed during the final operation of the military in Sambas forest, the latest Boko Haram stronghold, was buried in Maiduguri, Borno state.

The slain sergeant was buried on December 26 at the military cemetery in Maimalari barracks.

His brother, Abdullahi Bello, from Maiduguri wrote about this on his Facebook page.

He said: “Allahu akbar, today being the 26 / 12 / 2016, the remains of my late beloved brother ( Sgt Aliyu Bello) was put to rest at the military cemetery in Maimalari barracks. May Allah forgive all his shortcomings and grant him Jannah. We leave to remember you always.”

Nigeria’s military has driven Boko Haram insurgents from their last camp in the northeastern Sambisa forest.

This was announced by President Muhammadu Buhari on December 24, Saturday.

The army launched a large-scale offensive against the jihadist group in recent weeks.

The Sambisa forest was Boko Haram’s former stronghold.

May his soul rest in peace.
