Arsenal finished top of Group A of this year’s Champions League, in a dramatic twist of events on Tuesday night.

The Gunners went into their last fixture at Basel in second place, behind Paris Saint-Germain on head-to-head record.

Arsene Wenger’s men had no difficulty seeing off their hosts. Summer arrival Lucas Perez scored a hat-trick, as Arsenal won 4-1. However, PSG’s 2-2 draw with Ludogorets means they finish second.

In other games of the night, Manchester City drew 1-1 with Celtic at the Etihad, Napoli claimed a 2-1 win at Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv hammered Besiktas 6-0.

Robert Lewandowski’s free-kick proved to be the winner, as Bayern Munich beat Atletico Madrid 1-0. The German champions finish second behind Diego Simeone’s men.

Barcelona crushed Borussia Mochengladbach 4-0 and PSV drew 0-0 with Rostov.
