Prepare For A Legal Battle, Senator Kashamu Tells PDP

Senator Kashamu is a strong supporter of Sheriff in the leadership tussle.

As battle for the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gets messier, Senator Buruji Kashamu, yesterday declared that the party should brace up for a long legal battle, noting that if the situation is not properly managed it would create more problems than it was meant to resolve.

Kashamu, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District, also warned that the tussle may become a circus show even though the final outcome would be determine by the apex court.

The senator further lambasted the PDP spokesman of Sen Ahmed Makarfi-led PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, for threatening vengeance against Sen Ali Modu Sheriff and his group.

In a statement yesterday Kashamu said: “Let us not lose sight of the fact that the appellate courts are yet to finally determine the issue of the national leadership crisis. Irrespective of what the High courts say for or against Senator Ali Modu Sheriff or Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court are still there to adjudicate on the issues, and it could become a circus show. Besides, anyone who is unjustly punished would not fold his hands and allow his rights to be trampled upon.

“He would do everything legally possible to fight for his rights. And this could result into series of litigations and create more problems than it was meant to resolve.”
