EFCC Arrests Fake Portable After Failing To Perform In An Event

One Famotemi Toluwani Timothy who is a disc jockey based in Ogun state has been apprehended by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Ilorin Zonal Command for allegedly impersonating controversial Nigerian singer Portable.

According to a statement from the Head of Media and Publicity of the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, the impersonator was apprehended on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Timothy who is an Indigene of Igede-Ekiti in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State,  had opened an Instagram account with the name Zazu Omolalomi Portable” where he claimed to be the singer.

According to the statement, Timothy had told one of his victims, Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman who runs a club in Offa, Kwara during a chat that he is Portable and demanded a sum of N1m to perform at the club.

The suspect requested that 80 percent of the money be paid before the event, and Adebayo reportedly paid the sum of N790,000 into a bank account number provided by the suspect.

However, the suspect did not show up at the event which was held on February 18, 2022 and eventually blocked all means of communication with the suspect.

“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.
