Ex-APC Chair, Buni Reacts To Tinubu's Emergence As President-Elect

The Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as special adviser on “Party Integration and Reintegration” at the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

Naija News reports that the Governor’s appointment was made known in a letter personally signed by Tinubu.

According to the APC presidential candidate, Buni’s “appointment is fitting and appropriate” given his impressive political achievement and the exemplary leadership he has demonstrated as governor of Yobe state and as a party member.

Tinubu said: “We are grateful that you have joined our campaign team. We know you will do your utmost in this new responsibility so we conduct an effective, message-driven campaign leading us to victory in the 2023 presidential election.

“Together, not only can we ensure victory for our party in the February 2023 election but we shall also move Nigeria along the path of national greatness by building on the achievements of our party and the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in providing progressive good governance to Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, Bola Tinubu had earlier appointed Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, as the leader of his women’s campaign team.

Naija News reports that the First Lady is expected to lead the women’s wing of the party named “Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team,” to victory as its grand patron.

Also appointed as Chairman and Co-Chairman are Senator Oluremi Tinubu, three-term senator representing Lagos Central and former first lady of Lagos State, and Nana Shettima, the former first lady of Borno State and wife of the APC’s vice-presidential candidate.

This was contained in a statement issued by Rinsola Abiola, daughter of late Chief MKO Abiola.

Rinsola was also named in the media and administrative committees in the women’s campaign team.

Asabe Vilita Bashir, a former member of the House of Representatives from Borno will serve as national coordinator while Lauretta Onochie, a prominent woman within the APC and a senior aide in the Presidency, will deputise her.

The women’s campaign in the North-West Zone will be coordinated by Dr Zainab Bagudu, wife of the Kebbi State governor, while Mrs Falmata Zulum, the first lady of Borno State, will be in charge of the Northeast.
