Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has hailed Nigerian-born American professor, Uju Anya, for her comment about the influential role played by the late Queen of Elizabeth in the Nigerian civil war that left over three million Igbos dead in the 1960s.

Naija News earlier reported that Anya had come under serious criticism after making a post on Twitter wishing the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth of England an excruciating pain at death.

She wrote: ‘‘I heard the chief monarch of a thieving genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating”.

Uju’s tweet received mixed reactions around the globe, including Jeff Bezos, who criticised her for making such an insensitive comment, while others praised her for being courageous enough to share her thoughts.

However, Yul, while reacting to a recent interview of Prof Uju with 1hood, a media channel, explaining the reasons for her remarks against the deceased Queen Elizabeth, commended the American Professor for speaking out for the Igbo people.

According to Yul, in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, only the truth can set people free and lead them to a part of recovery.

He wrote; ”I listened to your interview on 1hood media channel on YouTube. And I just want to say thank you for speaking the truth, our truth. Thank you for speaking for our people. Only the truth can set us free. And set us on the part of recovery. Thank you Prof.@UjuAnya”
