Nigerians Will Get COVID-19 Vaccine For Free - FG

Next week the Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine will hit the United Kingdom market as the UK Government approves the launch of the first and most effective vaccine provided by Pfizer and BioNTech.

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed the effectiveness of the vaccine based on information provided by the country’s drug safety watchdog

Mr Hancock also said that next week the 800,000 pre-ordered vaccines would arrive in the UK.

The UK is the first country in the world to approve the introduction of COVID-19 vaccine produced in the United States.

The government last Wednesday approved the drug, which is being developed by pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNTech.

Naija News reports that a Nigerian doctor, Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu, has been instrumental in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine provided by Pfizer in the United States.

The US Embassy in Nigeria in a statement posted on its Twitter account on Monday, November 23, 2020, said the vaccine is the most effective and the first developed in the United States for COVID-19.

“Nigerians have made a significant contribution to the world in many ways and we are grateful to Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu for helping to develop the COVID-19 vaccine,” the office said.

Pfizer and BioNTech, which developed the vaccine developed by Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu, say it was the first to produce COVID-19 and cured 90% of its victims.

The vaccine has been tested on 43,500 infected people in six countries and appears to pose no health risk.

Pfizer says it will provide 50 million vaccines by the end of 2020, and 1.3 billion by the end of 2021.
