Boko Haram Attacks Motorists In Yobe State

Not less than 69 persons have been reported killed in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists who stormed a village in the state on Tuesday afternoon.

The terrorists struck at Foduma Kolomaiya village, 11 kilometres away from Gazaure town of Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

Gubio itself is 96 kilometres away from Maiduguri the state capital.

The insurgents who arrived in vehicles and on motorcycles also burnt the village to the ground as they operated for about two hours on Tuesday.

The terrorists shot sporadically into the air, killed about 300 animals, and rustled another 1,200 cattle and camels.

A Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) member and a soldier confirmed the incident as reported by Reuters.

“It’s an unfortunate day for us to witness this,” said CJTF fighter Kachallah Bumu. “They took us unaware and killed our people,” he added.

The fresh report is coming after a previous report of an attack by ISWAP terrorists on a military base in Auno, near Maiduguri in Borno State that resulted in the death of six Nigerian soldiers.

Forty-five soldiers are also unaccounted for after the attack on the military base, Naija News understands.

Insurgents belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) stormed the military base in machine-gun fitted trucks and attacked the base, sources quoted by Nigeria News on Sunday disclosed.
