Another Tanker Falls Down In Onitsha

Another major tragedy was averted on Thursday after a tanker loaded with Petroleum Motor Spirit, PMS, fell into a ditch along Onitsha/Enugu expressway by Chipex Filling station, Onitsha, spilling its content.

As at the time of filing this report, no fire outbreak was reported from the fallen petrol tanker but a source said residents within the vicinity were running from the place over fears of a fire outbreak.

The spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, also warned residents to stay clear of the area to avert any negative happening.

He added that men of the command have been deployed and have cordoned off the area to prevent residents from making any attempt to scoop fuel from the tanker.

“It is highly advisable you alert residents in the area through your medium to steer clear from the premises in order to prevent any disaster.

“Police patrol teams have cordoned off the area and fire Service department was equally contacted to be on standby in order to prevent fire incident,” he said.
