Arsenal’s Iwobi excited by Europa League final

Alex Iwobi has expressed delight in playing for Arsenal against Chelsea in the Europa League final.

The Gunners will be battling to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League in Baku next week against Maurizio Sarri’s men.

This will be the first time Arsenal will be reaching a European final since 2006 when they lost 2-1 against Barcelona.

Iwobi has been a regular for Arsenal this season with 50 appearances, 10 of which have come in the Europa League, and the winger is eager to be involved for Unai Emery’s side when they take on Chelsea on May 29.

Europa League Final: Arsenal Have The Advantage – Sarri

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri stated that Arsenal will be extra motivated when they take on his side in the Europa League final next Wednesday.

The Gunners know a win over Chelsea in Baku, Azerbaijan will guarantee them a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Unai Emery, a three-time winner of the Europa League, will also see his budget boosted from around £45m to £75m should the Gunners lift the trophy for the first time.

Chelsea have already secured their spot in next season’s competition thanks to their third-place finish in the Premier League.

Asked whether Arsenal would be the more motivated of the two sides, Sarri replied: ‘It’s a risk of course.”

Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso is a top transfer target for Arsenal this summer as Unai Emery looks to mend his leaking defence.

Hermoso has impressed in La Liga this season, earning a call-up to the Spain national team for the first time last November.
