8 Die In Road Accident Explosion

Eight people have died in a road accident involving a fuel tanker and container-laden truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Naija News gathered that the truck carrying a container rammed into the fuel tanker, which resulted into an explosion of the tanker.

The explosion was said to have burnt the passengers of the truck beyond recognition in the accident.

Confirming the fatal accident, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the incident  happened at Onigari Village, close to the Foursquare Gospel Church camp at Ajebo, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According Akinbiyi, “The tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit travelling was to Ibadan while the container-laden truck was coming from Ibadan when the accident occurred.

“The accident occurred at a point where the traffic had been diverted to a single lane.

“Eight persons have been confirmed dead in the inferno, they were burnt beyond recognition. The victims were those passengers in a container attached to the truck.”

There was traffic jam on the Ajebo-Ogunmakin axis of the express road owing to the explosive accident, AKinbiyi include.

He, however, saidthat operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),  State Fire Service and the Nigeria Police were on ground to manage the traffic, and remove the charred bodies and vehicles from the road.
