Retired Brigadier-General Jafaru Isa an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari coughed out the N170million he got from former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has received a total of N170million from retired Brigadier-General Jafaru Isa, a close friend of President Muhammadu Buhari from his share of the $2billion arms scandal.

The Punch reports that a source at the EFCC confirmed to its correspondent that Isa, a former military governor of Kaduna state and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has paid the concluding N70million out the N170million he got from former national security adviser retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

Isa had earlier returned N100m to the EFCC but now is said to have completed the loot he received from Dasuki.

I can confirm to you that Jafaru Isa has returned the balance of N70m to the Federal Government’s purse. This brings the total amount of money he has returned to N170m.

Isa was the only close friend of President Buhari to have been accused of corruption.

His arrest by the EFCC was also plagued by controversy after he was released just about four days after his arrest while Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson Olisa Metuh who was also arrested around the same time spent around three weeks in EFCC detention.

Meanwhile, the federal government is set to try former Delta state governor James Ibori over an alleged $15million bribe he gave to former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss Nuhu Ribadu.
